Erica is an actress and writer living in New York City who works in film, TV, theatre, comedy, and commercials. She was an actor in the 2015 24 Hour Plays Nationals and won second place as a finalist in the NBC/UCB Diversity Showcase (see that performance here!) Erica is thrilled to be a house sketch comedy performer on Maude night at the Upright Citizen's Brigade theatre. She's been seen on CollegeHumor, Mas Mejor, Funny or Die, Flama and more. Erica is the co-host of the Spanish podcast "MedioGringo." Erica also just finished her first book, Waiting on America, a nonfictional study on the diets of sea turtles.**
**(It is not about sea turtles....But there is a chapter on food).
A first generation American raised in Texas, she is a Colombian and German blend of culture, personality, and... genes? She grew up listening to "the brunette Shakira" and eating bratwurst in a Texan suburb where Starbucks closes before dark.
Erica received her BA in theatre performance and Spanish language and literature from Fordham University. While at Fordham, she studied abroad in Mexico City for one semester, solidifying her love of mangoes, avocados, and Latin pop music.
After graduating from Fordham, she became a student in sketch writing and improvisational comedy at the Upright Citizen's Brigade. She performs improv regularly with several indie teams around New York City including "Open Relationship" and performs Spanish improv for English speakers with "Los Profesores." She was an actor for the Boogiemanja indie sketch team, "17:38" and "Pencil's Down" and is currently an actor on UCB's Maude team The Foundation.
Erica is also a lyrical soprano. For a sample of what she sounds like, go here.
Erica has been a recreational runner for a while. She ran in the 2015 NYC marathon, and continues to run halves when she can. She knows, what is wrong with her? Seriously. But hey, if there's ever a zombie attack, Erica will be prepared.
For more info on what she's doing, visit her updates page. Or take a walk and look for a tall brunette trying to balance a couple bags on a Citibike without hitting anyone. That's probably Erica.
